The Hamilton Sundstrand Customer Support Centre was developed within an active industrial facility at Subang Aerotech Park, requiring a workplace strategy that balanced global aerospace standards with the realities of a manufacturing environment. The brief focused on transitioning from a conventional “office-in-a-warehouse” model to a technology-enabled workplace aligned with Collins Aerospace’s international brand framework. The design needed to reflect precision and innovation while remaining grounded within its operational context.

The 25,000 sq ft facility is organised across two levels with a spatial strategy that promotes flow rather than rigid departmental hierarchy. Flexible neighbourhoods support focused work, while integrated touchdown areas and acoustic booths enable adaptability. A central social anchor — the Aerotech Café — accommodates up to 120 people and functions as a multi-purpose hub for training sessions, town halls, and informal collaboration. In response to evolving workplace standards at the time of delivery, the layout incorporates adaptable partitions and enhanced health safeguards to support long-term resilience.

Materiality adopts a refined industrial palette, combining concrete finishes with certified carpet tiles and timber textures to balance durability and acoustic comfort. Dark timber tones and terracotta accents reflect the brand identity while softening the industrial envelope. Integrated acoustic systems, biophilic elements, and calibrated lighting strategies enhance environmental performance. Delivered as a fully integrated design and build programme, the centre establishes a cohesive workplace that bridges advanced aerospace operations with contemporary employee experience.
